Week 6 Reminders

What a fantastic night against Queensmill—so much fun, even in the heat! Thank you to everyone who came out to swim or volunteer. Our meets wouldn’t be possible without your support and dedication.

Special congratulations to Ethan Hartley (9/10 boys) and Cannon Bennett (11/12 boys) for breaking the CAL 100-yard freestyle records—an incredible achievement!

SwimRVA Clinic

SwimRVA will be hosting a free clinic and open house for all Summer League swimmers on Saturday, June 28th from 8:30 - 9:30am at SwimRVA-CSAC (5050 Ridgedale Parkway, N. Chesterfield, VA 23234).

SwimRVA Rapids Open House/Clinic Sign-up

Please note: This clinic is hosted by SwimRVA at the address provided above—not at our home pool. It will also be conducted by SwimRVA staff, not the Magnolia Green coaching staff. This is a wonderful opportunity for our swimmers to participate in a free clinic and learn more about year-round swimming with a local team.

Queensmill Follow-up

Our swimmers delivered an outstanding performance Tuesday night against Queensmill for our 2nd win of the year! All results from previous meets are available here for your reference.

4th Swim Meet - July 1st @ Tarrington

Information about the Tarrington meet is posted on our Meet Details page. Heat sheets will be pushed through the Swimtopia App and posted before the meet. This meet will start at 6:30PM with Magnolia Green warming up from 5:55-6:15pm. The times may look a little slower this week because we are in a metered pool.

**Magnolia Green 8U Relays**

  • Coaches will start lining up 8U relays immediately after warmups on Tuesday evening. If your swimmer is in an 8U relay, remind them to stay on the pool deck after warmups.
  • Our coaching staff and Clerk-of-Course will handle lineup logistics.
  • If your swimmer isn’t participating in warmups but is in a relay, they need to report to the Clerk-of-Course after Magnolia Green warmups.
  • If a swimmer leaves after warmups and misses their relay, coaches will not be able to track them down, and they will be replaced in the lineup.

**Magnolia Green 9/10 Relays**

  • If your swimmer is part of a relay at the end of the meet, they are expected to stay and participate. When their relay is called, please make sure they report promptly to the clerk area. If your swimmer fails to arrive in time to be lined up, they will be replaced in the relay.

Our final regularly scheduled clinic of the season is this Saturday, June 28th from 9-10am. This week’s focus is Starts, Turns, & Finishes. Registration can be found here—each clinic is $25 per swimmer.

4th of July Parade

To get parade-ready, we’ll have a crafting station set up after each practice on July 3rd. Swimmers can create signs and decorate their bikes for the big day. On July 4th, we’ll meet at the Arbor Walk pool at 9:00 AM to get everyone set.

We’ve also created an Amazon Wish List with supplies to help bring the fun to life. Any support is greatly appreciated—thank you for helping make this event special for our swimmers!

Regular Season Meets

-All regular season meets are now open to declare your swimmers! Please see the Swim Meet 101 section under Meets & Events on our website to learn how to declare your swimmers.

Swim Caps & T-Shirts

If your swimmer hasn’t picked up their cap or shirt yet, they are available for pickup. Replacement caps are $15 each and can be paid for via Venmo or cash. Unfortunately, we do not have replacement shirts.

Volunteering Note

When signing up to volunteer, each individual must have their own account. If only one guardian has an account, they will not be able to register for two first-half slots. Don’t forget that each family must serve 3 meet halves to avoid being charged at the end of the season per the volunteer contract agreed to upon registration. If you have any questions on volunteering, please email Cori Bennett, our Volunteer Coordinator at [email protected].

Gold & Silver Caps + Ribbons

Gold and silver time caps along with ribbons will be available for pickup at the Tarrington meet on July 1st. Each swimmer is eligible for only one cap of each color per season. For example, if your swimmer earns a silver cap in freestyle and later meets the silver standard in backstroke, they will not receive a second silver cap. However, if they go on to achieve a gold time, they’ll receive a gold cap.

Be sure to refer to the time standards and double-check whether times are measured in yards or meters.

If a cap is lost or damaged, replacements are available for $15 each. Please store them carefully and use them only during swim practice and swim meets. Payments for replacements can be made via cash or Venmo. Ribbons from all meets will also be distributed at Tarrington. A volunteer will be stationed outside in the parking lot with the ribbon boxes. Please remember, not every swimmer will receive a ribbon or a cap. If there is not a ribbon or cap in the box, your swimmer did not receive one. If you believe there is an error, please contact us.

Time Standards & Champs

Time standards for this season can be found here. Swimmers will need to swim in at least 2 regular season meets as well as earn a qualifying time for their age and stroke in order to participate at CHAMPS in July. More information about that will be available later. Remember that we are a yards pool but often swim in a metered pool.

Looking ahead…

Declarations for our fifth meet of the season are due by 11:59 PM on July 3rd. Join us on July 8th as Magnolia Green hosts our last home meet of the season against Waveriders. This will also be Senior Night for our graduating seniors. More information to come!

Remember to check the website frequently for the most up to date information. These weekly emails will be posted under the Recent News Section of our website.
