Week 5 Reminders & Updates

What an unforgettable night at our fundraiser meet against Hampton Park! Swimmers hit personal bests, the energy was high, and the sense of community was stronger than ever. It was heartwarming to rally together in support of the McNew family. A big shoutout to our amazing volunteers—your time, effort, and spirit made it all possible. Thank you!

A note on Declarations: Declarations for all meets have been open since early May and are due by 11:59 PM on the Thursday before each meet. No exceptions will be made for late declarations. To help you stay on track, we send push notifications every Wednesday and Thursday through the app. If you’re not using the app, these reminders are also delivered via email. There is also a link at the bottom of every weekly email to declare your swimmer.

Please be sure you’re:

  • Reading the weekly emails
  • Enabling notifications in the app
  • Checking the website regularly

You can declare your swimmers now for the remaining three meets of the season.

And remember—we’re a team of dedicated volunteers who work hard to make sure this information reaches you. Many hours have been spent preparing this information and making it easy to access.

Hampton Park Followup

Our swimmers delivered an outstanding performance Tuesday night against Hampton Park—way to go, team! A quick reminder: each Wednesday and Thursday after a meet, coaches provide feedback to swimmers who were DQ-ed. These swimmers are guided out of their lanes to work one-on-one with a coach on the specific issue. All results from previous meets are available here for your reference.

A gentle reminder: Please avoid speaking with coaches during practices, as it can be distracting for both coaches and swimmers. If you have specific questions or concerns, we ask that you speak with a coach before or after practice. Keep in mind that as a team, our practices are designed to develop all strokes and aspects of swimming—even those your swimmer may not prefer. With over 230 swimmers on the team, it's not possible for coaches to offer individualized instruction during regular practice. For more personalized guidance, we encourage scheduling a private lesson with a coach.

If your swimmer could use some extra help with breaststroke or butterfly, we still have openings in our Breast & Fly Clinic this weekend. Details are listed below!

3rd Meet - June 24 Magnolia Green Vs Queensmill

Our 3nd regular season meet is set to begin at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, June 24th. We will be taking our team photo before warmups on Tuesday. All information about the Queensmill meet is available here. Heat sheets will also be posted on the signup calendar sometime on Monday. Please check to see if your swimmer is in a relay.

Tuesday is looking like a hot one - please bring extra water, drinks with electrolytes, cooling items, and anything you think will help keep you and your swimmer cool.

*Team Photo**

  • Team pictures will also be taken on June 24th prior to our Queensmill Meet. Swimmers should arrive by 4:30 PM, and the picture will be taken promptly at 4:45 PM. Warmups will be from 5:00pm-5:20pm.
  • Swimmers must wear their 2025 Team T-shirt for the photo.
  • Pick your shirt up this week or next Monday or Tuesday morning.

**Magnolia Green 8U Relays**

  • Coaches will start lining up 8U relays immediately after warmups on Tuesday evening. If your swimmer is in an 8U relay, remind them to stay on the pool deck after warmups.
  • Our coaching staff and Clerk-of-Course will handle lineup logistics.
  • If your swimmer isn’t participating in warmups but is in a relay, they need to report to the Clerk-of-Course after Magnolia Green warmups.
  • If a swimmer leaves after warmups and misses their relay, coaches will not be able to track them down, and they will be replaced in the lineup.

**Magnolia Green 9/10 Relays**

  • If your swimmer is part of a relay at the end of the meet, they are expected to stay and participate. When their relay is called, please make sure they report promptly to the clerk area. The 9/10 relays will begin lining up outside of clerk, so it’s important to be listening for announcements.

Swim Clinics

If you're looking to refine your breaststroke and butterfly technique, join us this week on June 21st for our second breast and butterfly clinic. Spots are still available for this clinic.

The clinic on June 28th is going to be a Starts, Turns, & Finishes. Sign up today to work on your swimmers starts, turns, and finishes.

Registration for our 2 remaining clinics can be found here—each clinic is $25 per swimmer.

Regular Season Meets

-All regular season meets are now open to declare your swimmers! Please see the Swim Meet 101 section under Meets & Events on our website to learn how to declare your swimmers.

Swim Caps & T-Shirts

If your swimmer hasn’t picked up their cap or shirt yet, they are available for pickup. Replacement caps are $15 each and can be paid for via Venmo or cash. Unfortunately, we do not have replacement shirts.

Volunteering Note

When signing up to volunteer, each individual must have their own account. If only one guardian has an account, they will not be able to register for two first-half slots. Don’t forget that each family must serve 3 meet halves to avoid being charged at the end of the season per the volunteer contract agreed to upon registration. If you have any questions on volunteering, please email Cori Bennett, our Volunteer Coordinator at [email protected].

Gold & Silver Caps + Ribbons

Gold and silver time caps will be available for pickup at the Queensmill meet on June 24th. Each swimmer is eligible for only one cap of each color per season. For example, if your swimmer earns a silver cap in freestyle and later meets the silver standard in backstroke, they will not receive a second silver cap. However, if they go on to achieve a gold time, they’ll receive a gold cap.

Be sure to refer to the time standards and double-check whether times are measured in yards or meters.

If a cap is lost or damaged, replacements are available for $15 each. Please store them carefully and use them only during swim practice and swim meets. Payments for replacements can be made via cash or Venmo. Ribbons from the Hampton Park meet will also be distributed at Queensmill. A volunteer will be stationed outside in the parking lot with the ribbon boxes. Please remember, not every swimmer will receive a ribbon or a cap. If there is not a ribbon or cap in the box, your swimmer did not receive one. If you believe there is an error, please contact us.

Time Standards & Champs

Time standards for this season can be found here. Swimmers will need to swim in at least 2 regular season meets as well as earn a qualifying time for their age and stroke in order to participate at CHAMPS in July. More information about that will be available later. Remember that we are a yards pool but often swim in a metered pool.

Looking ahead…

Declarations for our fourth meet of the season are due by 11:59 PM on June 26th. Join us on July 1st as Magnolia Green takes on Tarrington at Tarrington.

Remember to check the website frequently for the most up to date information. These weekly emails will be posted under the Recent News Section of our website.
