Week 2 Reminders

We're excited to welcome the warmer weather and can't wait to see everyone in the pool! Here’s the practice schedule for the week:

  • Emails have been sent out with your swimmer’s registered time slot. Please only attend the practice session assigned to you.
  • The weekly practice schedule can be found here.
  • Schedule update: This week, we’ll have Wednesday morning practice due to the mock meet on Tuesday morning.
  • There will be no morning practice on Tuesday, June 3rd, and no evening practice that day either due to the mock meet. Swimmers who aren’t participating in the mock meet will have the day off—enjoy!
  • During the first week of practice, please write your swimmer’s name on their back to help coaches learn names more quickly.

Practice Schedule Week of June 2nd-June 6th

7:30am to 8:15am (Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri)

8:30am to 9:15am (Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri)

9:30am to 10:15am (Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri)

4:45pm to 5:30pm (Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri)

6:30pm to 7:15pm (Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri)

Practice Attendance GuidelinesIf your swimmer is unable to attend their assigned time slot, they must not join a different session, as make-up practices are not available. There is no need to notify us if they will be absent.

Upon arrival, swimmers must check in with a junior coach at the main entrance to the pool. Those who arrive outside of their designated session will not be permitted to swim—no exceptions.

Per HOA regulations, swimmers under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times while at the pool. If your swimmer is under 12, please ensure that a parent or guardian remains on-site for the entire practice session—drop-offs are not permitted.

Mock Meet

If your swimmer needs to participate in the mock meet, you should have received a separate email regarding their declaration. If you’re unsure whether your swimmer needs to attend, please reach out to [email protected] for clarification.

Deadline reminder: Mock Meet declarations are due by Sunday, June 1st, at 11:59 PM.

**There’s no pressure to swim all three strokes at the mock meet! If your swimmer is new to the team and prefers to stick with freestyle or freestyle and backstroke, that’s absolutely okay. Our priority is making sure everyone feels confident and comfortable in the water—we’ve got a whole season ahead to grow and improve!

If you already had a time in an event, you have been removed from that event. Due to time constraints, we do not have time for swimmers to swim events if they already have a time.

Regular Season Meets

-All regular season meets are now open to declare your swimmers! Please see the Swim Meet 101 section under Meets & Events on our website to learn how to declare your swimmers. All jobs for our 6 regular season meets will open on June 2nd at 6pm.

1st Meet - Magnolia Green @ Hallsley (June 10th at 6pm)

Important Reminder: Declarations for our first meet of the season at Hallsley on June 10th are due byJune 5th at 11:59 PM—no exceptions. If your swimmer will not be attending, you can decline them for the meet.

Event Selection: Swimmers are not required to compete in all three individual events. They should swim what they feel comfortable with. The maximum per swimmer is three individual events, but if they prefer to stick with freestyle, that’s completely fine! Freestyle and backstroke? That works too! Our priority is making sure this is an enjoyable experience for everyone. As the season progresses swimmers will start to feel more confident in the butterfly and breast.

Relays

Please inform the coaching staff if your swimmer is interested in participating in a relay for the June 10th meet at Hallsley.

  • 8U relays take place at the beginning of the meet.
  • 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, 15-18 relays are scheduled for the end of the meet.
  • If selected for a relay, swimmers are expected to stay until their event. Missing a relay without prior notice may affect eligibility for future relays throughout the season. We understand that unexpected situations arise, and some families may need to leave early. If that happens, please notify the coaching staff promptly.

Swim Clinics

We will be hosting 4 Saturday clinics this year each with a different focus. Signups are limited to 20 swimmers and cost $25 per clinic. The breast/fly clinics are geared towards helping swimmers learn the mechanics of the breast and fly stroke - they don’t need to be proficient - just willing to learn. Signups can be found here.

Swimtopia App

-Download the Swimtopia app and make sure notifications are enabled. We will be using the app to notify of practice changes and any weather related events. Meet information will also be available on the app. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE PRO VERSION OF THE APP. The free version will suffice for us for the season.

Pancake Breakfast

Volunteer spots for the pancake breakfast will be available starting June 2nd at 6pm.Families can earn ½ a credit toward their 3 required for the season. Signing up for 2 slots grants 1 credit, but 2 family members must participate to receive the full credit.

Volunteering

Families can earn 1 full credit by completing 2 social/fun volunteer positions, each worth ½ a credit. The remaining 2 credits must come from meet-related volunteer roles. Per the volunteer agreement signed at registration, families who do not fulfill their 3 meet halves will be charged $150 for each unmet half at the end of the season.

Dress Code

Females: One piece swimsuits are preferred.

Males: Comfortable and easy-to-tie swimsuits that provide adequate coverage.

Miscellaneous

Each swimmer will receive one swim cap along with their team shirt. If the cap is lost or damaged, a replacement must be purchased for $15 per cap. To keep them in good condition, please store them safely and use them only for swim practice. Cash or Venmo will be the only payment option for replacement caps.

Swim suits will be distributed next week during practice and the mock meet for those who purchased them. Please keep in mind that swimsuits and goggles were not included in the registration fee—only a team t-shirt and swim cap are provided.

We aim to distribute the t-shirts and swim caps next week, so stay tuned for updates! We’ll notify you as soon as they are available, along with any other items from the team store.

Diving blocks are only for swim team practice or private lessons and should not be used at any other time. Please help the lifeguards by avoiding playing on the blocks during non-swim team activities.

Time standards for this season can be found here. Swimmers will need to swim in atleast 2 regular season meets as well as earn a qualifying time for their age and stroke in order to participate at CHAMPS in July. More information about that will be available later. Remember that we are a yards pool but often swim in a metered pool.

Remember to check the website frequently for the most up to date information. These weekly emails will be posted under the Recent News Section of our website.

We can’t wait for a fantastic season ahead! Let’s make it a splash! Reach out if you have any questions. 🏊🐉
