Week 2 Updates

Practice schedule for June 1-June 5th can be found here

  • Schedule update: This week, we’ll have Wednesday morning practice due to the mock meet on Tuesday morning. Once our regular season meets begin, we will not have Wednesday morning practice
  • There will be no morning practice on Tuesday, June 2nd, and no evening practice that day either due to the mock meet. Swimmers who aren’t participating in the mock meet will have the day off—enjoy!

Dress Code Females - One-piece swimsuits are preferred. Males: Comfortable and easy-to-tie swimsuits that provide adequate coverage.

Goggles - Please also remind your swimmer to bring their own goggles to practice. The team does not provide goggles, and any style your swimmer is comfortable with is perfectly fine.

Mascot Voting - Don’t forget to vote by TODAY to help name our new mascot! Voting closes TONIGHT at 11:59pm, and we’ll announce the winner during practices next week. Each swimmer may submit one vote.

Mock Meet- Declarations are still open for the mock meet. If your swimmer plans to compete in the June 9th meet at Harper’s Mill, they must attend the mock meet. Swimmers without official times may be removed from the Harper’s Mill meet. There is no pressure to put down a best time — we simply need a time to properly seed swimmers. If your swimmer is interested in trying out a new stroke this season, the mock meet is the best opportunity to do that!

Even if your swimmer is not planning to participate in the Harper’s Mill meet, the mock meet is still a great learning experience. It’s less crowded than a regular meet and helps new swimmers learn the cues and flow of how a meet works. Our famous clerk of course, Heidi Sheldon, will be at both the morning and evening sessions to help swimmers know where they need to be.

The mock meet is a low‑pressure way to practice, build confidence, and get comfortable with the meet environment. We love watching swimmers grow from the mock meet all the way to the end of the season.

Morning Mock Meet – June 2rd (Morning Slot)

  • Time: 8–10 AM
  • Swimmers with morning practice times who do not have recorded times are required to attend. This includes:
    • Swimmers swimming 50 yards for the first time.
    • Swimmers in their first year on the team, regardless of age.
    • Swimmers without a time listed next to their name.
  • If your swimmer already has times, they get the morning off! The mock meet will replace practice for that day.

Evening Mock Meet – June 2rd (Evening Slot)

  • Time: 5:30–7:30 PM
  • Swimmers with evening practice times who do not have recorded times are required to attend. This includes:
    • Swimmers swimming 50 yards for the first time.
    • Swimmers in their first year on the team, regardless of age.
    • Swimmers without a time listed next to their name.
  • If your swimmer already has times, they get the evening off! The mock meet will replace practice for that day.

**There’s no pressure to swim all four strokes at the mock meet! If your swimmer is new to the team and prefers to stick with freestyle or freestyle and backstroke, that’s absolutely okay. Our priority is making sure everyone feels confident and comfortable in the water—we’ve got a whole season ahead to grow and improve!

If you already had a time in an event, you have been removed from that event. Due to time constraints, we do not have time for swimmers to swim events if they already have a time.

*** If you have questions about whether your swimmer needs to attend the mock meet, please email [email protected]. Deadline reminder: Mock Meet declarations are due by Monday, June 1st, at 6:00 PM.

1st Meet - Magnolia Green @ Harper’s Mill (June 9th at 6pm)

Important Reminder: Declarations for our first meet of the season at Harper’s Mill on June 9th are due by June 4th at 11:59 PM—no exceptions. If your swimmer will not be attending, you can decline them for the meet.

Event Selection: Swimmers are not required to compete in all three individual events. They should swim what they feel comfortable with. The maximum per swimmer is three individual events, but if they prefer to stick with freestyle, that’s completely fine! Freestyle and backstroke? That works too! Our priority is making sure this is an enjoyable experience for everyone. As the season progresses swimmers will start to feel more confident in the butterfly and breast.

Relays

Please let the coaching staff know if your swimmer is interested in being considered for a relay in the June 9th meet at Harper’s Mill. This week’s relay event will be a freestyle relay. Please note that expressing interest does not guarantee placement. Final relay selections are made at the coaches’ discretion.

  • 8U relays take place at the beginning of the meet.
  • 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, 15-18 relays are scheduled for the end of the meet.
  • If selected for a relay, swimmers are expected to stay until their event. Missing a relay without prior notice may affect eligibility for future relays throughout the season. We understand that unexpected situations arise, and some families may need to leave early. If that happens, please notify the coaching staff promptly.
