Week 3 Reminders
The countdown is on for our first meet of the season this Tuesday, June 10, at Hallsley! The Sea Dragons have been training hard, showing dedication and determination in the pool. We can’t wait to cheer them on and see their efforts shine in competition.
1st Meet - June 10 @ Hallsley
The meet is set to begin at 6:00 PM! As we receive details from Hallsley, we’ll keep you updated. Swimmer times from the mock meet have been entered—if they look a little slower, no worries! This week’s meet is in a metered pool, which affects the timing. A separate email will be sent with specifics, including warm-up schedules.
**A note about swimmers and their events – Coaches and the clerk of course are not responsible for locating swimmers for their events. This applies to home and away meets. Announcements will be made when events are being called to the clerk, and it is each parent's responsibility to listen and send their child at the appropriate time. Parents are not permitted at the clerk of course or behind the blocks at any point. Designated viewing areas will be available for all home and away meets.**
Practice Schedule Week of June 9th-June 13th
7:30am to 8:15am (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri)
8:30am to 9:15am (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri)
9:30am to 10:15am (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri)
4:45pm to 5:30pm (Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri)
6:30pm to 7:15pm (Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri)
If your swimmer is unable to attend their assigned time slot, they must not join a different session, as make-up practices are not available. We will go back to checking in swimmers next week. There is no need to notify us if they will be absent. NOTE: for the remainder of the season, we will not be having Wednesday morning practice. We will notify you of any changes.
To ensure a focused and productive practice environment, parents are not permitted behind the blocks. Additionally, we ask that parents refrain from speaking to their swimmers or coaches during practice, as it can be distracting to both the coaches and other swimmers. Please remain on the side or under the awning near the lifeguard desk. If your swimmer chooses not to participate in practice, they must sit with you on the side in a chair. They are not allowed to sit on the edge of the pool or behind the blocks, as this disrupts the session and creates space limitations. Encourage your swimmers before or after practice so they feel supported. Our coaching staff is highly trained and well-equipped to guide them throughout the session.
Swim Clinics
A couple of spots are available for our first clinic this weekend (June 7th), where we’ll be focusing on Starts & Turns! If you're looking to refine your breaststroke and butterfly technique, join us next week on June 14th for another great session.
Registration for all clinics can be found here—each clinic is $20 per swimmer. Don’t miss out on these valuable training opportunities!
Regular Season Meets
-All regular season meets are now open to declare your swimmers! Please see the Swim Meet 101 section under Meets & Events on our website to learn how to declare your swimmers. All jobs for our 6 regular season meets are also open. Sign up today! Don’t forget that each family must serve 3 meet halves to avoid being charged at the end of the season per the volunteer contract agreed to upon registration. If you have any questions about volunteering, please email [email protected].
Pancake Breakfast
We're excited to host a pancake breakfast this week on Thursday, June 12th following each practice session! A heartfelt thank you to all our wonderful volunteers for making this event possible. Our swimmers eagerly anticipate this tradition every year. Just a gentle reminder—the pancake breakfast is exclusively for swimmers.
Swim Caps
We will be passing out swim caps during practice next week during your swimmer’s practice time slot. Each swimmer will receive one swim cap. If the cap is lost or damaged, a replacement must be purchased for $15 per cap. To keep them in good condition, please store them safely and use them only for swim practice. Cash or Venmo will be the only payment option for replacement caps. T-SHIRTS ARE NOT IN YET.
Volunteering Note
When signing up to volunteer, each individual must have their own account. If only one guardian has an account, they will not be able to register for two first-half slots. If you have any questions on volunteering, please email Cori Bennett, our Volunteer Coordinator at [email protected].
Swag Shop Items
Bathing suits and any items purchased from the store are in. Please pick them up during your swimmers practice time slot.
Time Standards & Champs
Time standards for this season can be found here. Swimmers will need to swim in at least 2 regular season meets as well as earn a qualifying time for their age and stroke in order to participate at CHAMPS in July. More information about that will be available later. Remember that we are a yards pool but often swim in a metered pool.
Looking ahead…
Declarations for our second meet of the season—our first home meet!—are due by 11:59 PM on June 12th. Join us on June 17th as Magnolia Green takes on Hampton Park. This meet also serves as our fundraiser, and T-shirt sales are open! Pre-orders are due by June 8th, with pickup available at our meet on June 17th. A limited number of shirts will be available to purchase at the meet. Order now for the sizes and colors you want. Show your support for the McNew family and embrace your Swim Team Era!
If your swimmer receives a gold or silver time, those caps will be available to pick up at our Hampton Park meet on June 17th. **See the time standards on the above link.** They will NOT be distributed before. If your swimmer receives a gold or silver cap, that is their cap for the season. If the cap is lost or damaged, a replacement must be purchased for $15 per cap. To keep them in good condition, please store them safely and use them only for swim practice. Cash or Venmo will be the only payment option for replacement caps. Ribbons from the Hallsley meet will also be distributed at the Hampton Park meet on June 17th.
